Mountain View, "Folk Music Capital of the World".

Mountain View promotes itself as the "Folk Music Capital of the World" for good reason.  All through the spring, summer and fall, most evenings will find local folk on the town square getting together for informal music sessions open to the public. Bluegrass is the fare and some is amazingly well done. The Ozark Folk Center features old time traditional music & dance, local & guest performers, with showtime 7:30 pm, Wednesday-Saturday nights. there are monthly Sunday gospel shows and special performance weekends. The center is open mid-April through October.

Other local favorites for folk music and comedy include The Jimmy Driftwood Barn and Mellon's Country Store and Museum.
